Another new find for 2020. Afsky is a Danish one-person blackmetal
band, while Ofte Jeg Drømmer Mig Død is perhaps less DSBM than
2018’s magnificent Sorg this is still some fine music to empty your
veins to. The production has gotten a bit clearer and the tempo has
been taken up a notch, but other than that you’ll just find six
longish tracks of nightmarish sorrow here. The interesting and perhaps
unintended homage to Metallica’s Blackened on the very first track
is a bit odd and once your brain has made that connection it it’s hard
to unhear it, guess it can be the briefest moment of levity on this
otherwise somber album. As noted above Afsky’s previous album which I
discovered after I’d found this one is stunning, so belatedly highly
recommended as well. I’m now highly anticipating their next release.
